An independent data platform on citizenship, residency and global wealth. We put every index on one 0–100 scale, check it against government sources and publish it free — so your decision rests on data.

Entry conditions for 198 passports × 248 destinations are taken from each destination government's own portal, with every link checked. The data carries a version and an update date; still verify with the official authority before you travel.

Strength = the destinations you can enter without a consular visa in advance: visa-free + visa on arrival (VOA) + eTA. We exclude e-Visa because it remains an application that can be refused.

CBI grants citizenship (a passport) to qualifying investors, usually in 6–18 months. RBI grants the right to reside; citizenship is a longer road, several years later. See our article to choose by objective.

Every index and tool is currently open and free. We have no paywall.

A roadmap of 13 indices across 3 tiers, currently live: 11/13: Tier 1 — the Passport Index (198 passports, 248 destinations) and Quality of Life; Tier 2 — Healthcare, Education, Global Safety, Tax Freedom, Wealth Protection; Tier 3 (composites) — the Global Citizenship Score, Retirement, Family Relocation and Migration ROI. Still to come are the Opportunity Map (a map of investment migration programmes) and Cost of Living (the data is ready, but the page needs its two-mode switch). We publish an index only once its data has been checked; we do not open empty pages to inflate the count. Composites are scored only for countries with data covering most of the weight.

On the Prosperous Intelligence Passport Index, Singapore currently leads with roughly 218 of 248 freely accessible destinations, followed by South Korea and Japan. The full ranking of 198 passports is kept current on the Passport Index page.

The Vietnamese passport has free access (visa-free + visa on arrival + eTA) to roughly 45 of 248 destinations, most of them in Southeast Asia. The full, continuously updated list is on the Vietnam page of the Passport Index.

The 0% personal income tax group includes the Gulf (UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman), Monaco, and several island jurisdictions (Bahamas, Cayman, Bermuda, Brunei, Vanuatu). Note that "no income tax" does not mean no cost — see the Tax Freedom Index.

Most countries tax on residence: you pay where you live. A few — the United States most notably — tax on citizenship, so citizens must file on worldwide income wherever they live. This is a decisive factor when choosing a second citizenship or residency.

It is a weighted composite of eight indices: passport (18%), quality of life (16%), safety (14%), healthcare (12%), purchasing power (12%), education (10%), wealth protection (10%) and tax freedom (8%). A country is scored only when data covers at least 80% of the weight.

Many indices pull straight from international open sources (World Bank, UNODC and others), named on each page and in the Methodology table. Some are datasets we compile ourselves from public sources (marked "v0") and will keep expanding and verifying.

Where a full multi-factor index does not exist yet, we use the closest public indicator as a stand-in (life expectancy as a proxy for healthcare, for example). We label it "proxy" so you know it is a first version (v0) that will be upgraded.

Each index carries a version and data year. Indices drawn from open sources follow the publication cycle of those sources; composites are reviewed periodically before the version is raised.

Caribbean CBI programmes — St Kitts & Nevis, Dominica, Grenada, Antigua & Barbuda, St Lucia — typically process in 4–9 months, far quicker than European golden visas, and rarely require residence. Since 2024 the minimum contribution sits around USD 200,000. Conditions change year to year — always check the official source before deciding.

It depends on your goal, but balance four things: cost of living, healthcare, safety and the retirement visa. Popular destinations include Portugal and Spain in Europe, Malaysia and Thailand in lower-cost Asia, and Mexico and Panama with their pensionado visas.
